Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 September 2026

Witman Consulting Pty Ltd (ABN 66 644 486 368) trading as Bettercosts (“Bettercosts”, “we”, “us”) is based in Albury–Wodonga, New South Wales. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you use https://www.bettercosts.com.au (the “Site”), complete a form, book a Free Profit Scan, or engage our services.

We aim to handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, even where a small-business exemption may apply. If our legal obligations change, we will update this policy.

What we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact details — name, business name, role, email, phone, postal address.
  • Business details — industry, staff numbers, locations, and the nature of your outgoings or processes.
  • Enquiry and engagement details — messages you send, call notes, meeting notes, and information you upload or email (invoices, contracts, statements).
  • Financial and supplier information you choose to provide for an outgoing analysis or related service. This may include supplier names, contract terms and amounts paid.
  • Website and device data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate location, usually via cookies or analytics.
  • Communications records — emails, form submissions and support requests.

We do not usually need sensitive information (for example health information). Please do not send it unless we specifically ask and you consent.

How we collect it

  • Directly from you — website forms (including Free Profit Scan), email, phone, meetings, or documents you supply.
  • From your authorised staff or advisers, if you ask them to deal with us.
  • Automatically when you use the Site (cookies, analytics, server logs).
  • From publicly available sources where relevant to our services (for example ASIC or ABR details you already publish).

If you give us information about other people (staff, suppliers), you must be allowed to do so and should tell them we may hold it.

Why we collect it

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and book consultations.
  • Provide cash outgoing analysis, expense reviews, cash-flow planning, process reviews and related services.
  • Prepare findings, negotiate with suppliers you authorise, and administer our performance-based fees.
  • Issue invoices, process payments and meet tax and record-keeping duties.
  • Operate, secure and improve the Site.
  • Send service messages. We only send marketing if you have a reasonable expectation of hearing from us or you opt in, and you can opt out at any time.

We do not sell personal information.

Who we share it with

We only disclose personal information when it is reasonably necessary for our work, required by law, or you have agreed. That may include:

  • IT and hosting providers — for example Webflow (website), GoDaddy (domain/DNS), Google Workspace (email), and form or analytics tools.
  • Professional advisers — accountants, lawyers or insurers, under confidentiality.
  • Third-party specialists you approve — for example an energy broker we introduce. We will tell you before that introduction.
  • Regulators or courts if required by law.

Some providers store or process data outside Australia (including the United States). By using the Site or our services you consent to that overseas handling where it is reasonably necessary. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers.

Cookies and analytics

The Site may use essential cookies to function and optional cookies or pixels for analytics and performance. You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect forms or site features.

If we add advertising or remarketing pixels, we will update this section.

Storage and security

We store information in electronic systems (email, cloud files, CRM or project tools) and, where needed, paper files. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

How long we keep information depends on the purpose and on tax, contract and limitation-period requirements. We then delete or de-identify it where practicable.

Access, correction and complaints

You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, or complain about our handling of it. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

Children

The Site and our services are for business clients, not for children under 18.

Terms of Use

Last updated: 29 September 2026

These terms apply when you access https://www.bettercosts.com.au (the “Site”). By using the Site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please leave the Site.

Engaging us for consulting work is covered by a separate proposal, NDA and/or service agreement. If those documents conflict with these website terms, the signed engagement documents prevail for that work.

Who we are

The Site is operated by Witman Consulting Pty Ltd (ABN 66 644 486 368) trading as Bettercosts. Contact: glenn@bettercosts.com.au.

Information on the Site

Content on the Site (including blog posts, examples of savings and process descriptions) is general information only. It is not accounting, tax, financial-product or legal advice and is not a quote or guarantee of savings for your business.

Examples are illustrative. Past results are not a promise of future savings. Markets, contracts and suppliers change.

No-results, no-fee (outgoing analysis)

Where we offer a performance-based outgoing analysis, the fee model is explained on the Site and confirmed in writing before work starts. In summary, for agreed cash-outgoing reviews we typically charge a share of verified annual savings actually achieved. If we find no savings, or you choose not to implement recommendations, there is no fee for that outgoing analysis.

Process-improvement or Fractional CFO work may be charged differently (for example a scoping fee and time-based fees). Those terms will be set out in the engagement documents.

Nothing on the Site creates a retainer or obligation on either party until a written engagement is accepted.

Free Profit Scan and forms

Submitting a form or booking a Profit Scan is a request for contact, not an engagement. You must provide accurate details and only send information you are entitled to share. We may decline or cease an enquiry at our discretion.

Intellectual property

Site design, copy, logos and graphics are owned by us or our licensors. You may view and print pages for personal or internal business use. You must not copy, scrape or commercially reuse Site content without our written consent.

Acceptable use

You must not misuse the Site, attempt to gain unauthorised access, introduce malware, harvest data, or submit false, unlawful or infringing content.

Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Liability

To the extent permitted by the Australian Consumer Law and other non-excludable rights:

  • The Site is provided “as is” and may be interrupted or contain errors.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from reliance on general Site content.
  • Our aggregate liability arising from use of the Site is limited to AUD $100, or the cost of resupplying the relevant online content, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms excludes guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Courts of New South Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy and these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised version.
